Gutekunst Went Down to Georgia, Stands Pat at #22 and #28, Drafts a Pair of Bulldogs
As wide receiver fever caught hold of much of the Packers fan base and several needy teams, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst fortifies what could be the best Packers defense in many years. With the 22nd pick (acquired from the Raiders in the Davante Adams trade), the Packers chose LB Quay Walker. The 6′ 4″ 241 lb. senior registered a 4.52 40 time. In 4 years with Bulldogs, Walker had 79 solo tackles with 58 assists, 11 for loss and 5 sacks.
With pick 28, Gutekunst doubled down on Georgia and picked up DT Devonte Wyatt. Wyatt boasts 113 tackles (49 solo, 64 assists) in 4 years. He is 6′ 3″ and 304 lbs. and turned in a 4.77 40 time.
Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft recommence this evening at 6pm CDT. The Packers hold picks 53 (from Las Vegas), 59, and 92 tonight plus 6 others in the later rounds, creating a lot of possibility for trading picks as Gutekunst’s draft history shows he is wont to do.
